Freedom Wand to Be Featured at 2009 American Occupational Therapy Association Conference & Expo
Zeeland, MI (PRWEB) April 16, 2009 -- Independent disability aid company, Freedom Wand LLC, is heading to the 2009 American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) Conference and Expo in Houston, TX April 23-26.
Freedom Wand started after Deborah Tacoma was involved in an accident from which she suffered a broken back and could not find a hygiene aid that was a suitable length; so she invented one.
"I designed and invented the Freedom Wand," Tacoma said. "I realized that there are other people like me who had problems reaching to wipe, being able to bathe or apply ointment with something that can't reach as far as it should."
With the help of her marketing director, John Kowitz, Tacoma eventually set up a website (www.FreedomWand.com) to make her mobility aid reach more people beyond their native Michigan.
"There are many people who struggle," said Kowitz, "and the Freedom Wand can help immensely. It's multi-use, multi-length and multi-purpose. It's an empowering tool and helps people who may have limited mobility to retain their dignity."
Acting as a toilet aid, shaving aid or a bathing aid, the Freedom Wand is unlike any other hygiene device out there. This sentiment is also something that is echoed in Tacoma's new blog, www.ToiletingAidInfo.com, which will have inspirational stories about peoples' adversities and conquering the odds.
With their appearance at the upcoming AOTA Conference and Expo, Freedom Wand will no doubt turn a few heads and pique the interests of many resources that can help people live a relatively normal life, despite an injury that can keep their movement limited.
"Our philosophy is different," said Tacoma. "We want to encourage and help people. No one should have to go for any period feeling embarrassed or humiliated and I truly feel that a device like the Freedom Wand can change that."
